Our 5th Wedding Anniversary
Today is a special day. Five years ago, in Yomitan, Okinawa, at the Town City Hall, Rob and I got married. Although we had no idea that we were actually married because our translator, a 100 year old Okinawan lady, forgot to tell us. Back at the front desk, where we waited, we exchanged some papers, then waited, then we were told to go. So we walked out of the building without knowing what was going to happen next. Well, nothing happened. Except that back there, someone signed papers, took our money, and that was it--we were now a husband and wife. But nobody asked us even a single question! It was the weirdest wedding I've ever experienced. Funny, too. We really wanted make sure that we ARE married. The 100 year old lady said, yes, yes, yes. I guess that assuring enough. Then she handled to us a big envelope with our (cool) marriage certificate, in kanji, and another one in English. On the way home we were just yelling in the car: we are married, yeeaahhh! We are married!!! We were sooooo freaking happy! Of course, we didn't tell you guys, until exactly two months later. Oops! Sorry! Everything just happened so quickly.
Ok, here are some (true) facts:
We "met" on the 13th of November, 2001. Four days later, after millions of emails and pictures, Rob called me. We spoke for about two hours. Oh, by the way, we fell in love with each other with the first email. Then on the eight day he said he fell in love with me, and I admitted that I felt the same. Thirteen days after that, Rob proposed to me over the phone. I said YES!!! A month a half since we've met, I quited my job, gave away my furniture and all of my belongins, made all needed vet papers for Adi, moved out of my apartment, lived with a woman from my work for 12 days because I had no place to stay until the day I was supposed to leave Denmark, and on the 3th of December, 2001, Adi and I were on the plane heading to Okinawa.
I arrived on the 4th of December, 2001, welcomed by my future husband, Rob Dufresne. From then on, our love grew more intense day by day. I've never ever met a man that made such a big impression on me, was so intelligent, handsome, loving and caring, and so right for me. I have never imagined that love can be that strong and so beautiful. My dream came true... :-)

What a wonderful entry today in your blog! I am so happy for both of you that you met each other! You guys are absolutely perfect for each other! The story about getting married was so funny and heartwarming! Beatka, you got a great man. I have always loved Rob so much. Rob, what a wonderful addition you made to our crazy family by marrying Beata. Happy Anniversary, you guys.
All my love,
Aunt Karen!
Ok, well....that was quite a story. Almost sounds like an 'arranged' marriage. I now understand why you might have thought you should wait to tell us!(like we could do something about it?) But looking back, and seeing how far you've come together, and how happy you have made our nephew, who could say it was not the perfect way to meet, fall in love, and marry. I wish you a wonderful 5th Anniversary, and Many Many more years.
(Janet-this might top the lotto story---but for sure, it fits right in with the Bozarth Family Lore)
What a romantic wedding! Happy 5th Anniversary. You two were surely made for each other!
Thank you my sweet Aunts! Now I couldn't imagine my life without Rob, and without the Bozaths! :-) Thank you for the warm wishes, I love you so much!!!
(and I thought it will be nice if you all know the truth about the facts ;-)
I don't get it. So you didn't date for 5 years? :)
I thought this was your first anniversay.
You were like an email order bride. Just like in the old west when a woman would leave everything in the east to join a man she never met.
HAPPY ANNIVERSAY
Happy Anniversary sis. It was great chatting online with you today. Hugs & kisses. Chat again soon.

xoxoxox,
Charmell still in Iraq
What a romantic story!!
So did they have you say any vows when you went to get married?? I can see why you guys were confused on whether you were married or not! :)
Happy 5th Anniversary!
Uncle Joe, Rob was email order husband! I saw him and I picked him, not the other way around! ha!ha!ha! But I did good, hmmm??! ;-)
My sweet Sis, it was wonderful talking to you, as usual. I miss those days (back in Japan) when we would spend hours everyday, on talking on Skype! :-)
Mom, thank you for having such a wonderful son! I couldn't be happier!
Charmell girl!!! Oh my gosh, how wonderful to hear from you!!! WE miss you so much!!! Thank you for making time while in Iraq and visiting my blog! When are you coming back???????????????????
Hello sweet Kelly, thank you! No, we didn't say any vows, nothing. They took our papers, we paid, and than we waited in a bench at the city hall. Now it really seems funny, but it was confusing then. ;-)
Happy Anniversary Rob & Beata-a story of your beginning life together to remember each year. wishing you many more years together and many more fun stories of your adventures
I loved hearing your story! I think that is super romantic. It goes right along with how Uncle Tim & Aunt Janet just knew that they were right for each other right away & Aunt Cindy & Uncle Joe did too. I just love it. I'm so happy for both of you!
