Chicago visit (more)

I forgot to add that while I was visiting in Chicago, I met my uncle Janusz, who is also from Krakow, Poland. He was married to my mom's cousin, and my grandma used to take me to their house when I was little. Of course, I don't remember any of that, either him, or my aunt--his wife. A few years ago, when I was already living on Okinawa, my grandma told me that someone from our family lives in Chicago. And since we were suppose to go there, she thought it would be great to already have relatives in a new place. Well, I think Grandma mostly thought of him actually being closer to someone from our family. I got in touch with him, and it was around the time when his wife, and my aunt, died of cancer. My uncle and I got to know each other very well during that time as we were on the phone almost every day and for many hours.

Our conversations stopped when he got better. Then we Rob and I moved to NC. I never got to meet my uncle until this Chicago visit. It was fun to see someone who knows Grandma and the rest. How funny. Uncle Jim and Frank took me to where my uncle Janusz lives and we spend almost two hours at his place. It was fun, and I didn't mind translating the whole time. My uncle had been five years in the US, but he still doesn't speak English. :-( Well, some people just stay around friends from their countries and never pick the language. On few of the pictures below we are all together with uncle Janusz. He is the slim guy with the mustache.

The other thing I forgot to write about is that I was freezing so much in Chicago and Aunt Karen went and bought be a hat. And I love it sooo much!!! It's Kate Spade, cashmere, with fox fur pom-pom. And it's crochet, so sits very comfortably without causing me headaches! I loved it so much that wanted to go to bed in it! ;-)))

beata...it must have made your trip to be able to meet up with a member of your own family. (especially one that knows your beloved grandma!) He looks equally as excited and happy to be with you! I am so happy that you were able to make that connection. Thanks for the wonderful posting and all the great pictures.

My sweet Aunt Cindy, I really was excited to meet my uncle. I mean, what are the odds to meet someone who is related to me so far away from my country??? Crazy, but great! As you figured out, I am a kind of a picture freak, so there will always be tons of those on my blog! ;-))) Thankfully Blogger had updated its service and I am hoping for no more problems with listing photos.

Thank you Aunt Karen, Uncle Jim, and Frank for taking such good care of my love. It means so much to her that you would fly her out, and I can tell you that she had a wonderful, wonderful time. She's still buzzing about it, and I love hearing about what a nice visit it was. Hopefully, we can all get together next time.

The pictures are just great, honey. Love you.
