Thanksgiving Day

Again, I tried to add more pictures and Blogger didn't allowed me. Oh well, I will have it in the posting above--hopefully. How can I miss to show to everyone what a hard core gambler Mom is! :-)

Our first, in our new home and first in the US, Thanksgiving Day, went really well. Mom helped me a lot in the kitchen, preparing dishes not known to me, like two kind of sweet potatoes, grandma's Bozarth's salad (which reminded me totally of an Easter Polish dish!) pumpkin pies, and tons of other goodies. Mom did a pretty good job. No one can say that Jer can't cook! Everything that Mom cooked, or baked, tasted deliciously. I took care of the turkey, ham, home made stuffing, mashed potatoes, and other stuff. There was enough food too feed about ten families. But we've had only two friends coming over! That was not exactly what we expected, but we surely had a lot of fun. And ate a lot. Then ate some more... and again. Steve was starving himself since the day before, drinking only water that would expend the capacity of his stomach. How cute! Well, I guess it worked, since he ate more than any of us! ;-) That made both me and Mom happy.

After watching some football, we cleaned the table, and set up for a poker game. It was a first time for Troy, but he did really well. It was a lot of fun, even though we tried to keep it as professional as we could. Well, at least Rob tried. I lost as the first person, then went Mom. Rob ended up winning it all. Yep--we played for money. Since that day you can call Rob a millionaire. Just kidding. We each put only $5 in. That's it! ;-)

The extra fun that day was added by two of Steve's dogs that he brought with him. They were sooo cute!!! Chilli and Siegfried played like crazy, jumping, biting, growling, and running for more than 5 hours, until they fell on the floor super tired, and barely breathing. Siegfried's mom, Matilda, was such a cutie, and I decided to spoil her a little. So during our poker game she spend the whole time in my arms, or on my lap. Bella was kind of jealous, but she just had to get over it. Bobby was guarding the pups, and the cats just disappeared.

Both Steve and Troy left around 9.00 pm with big bags full of plates with food for the next days. And even though we did have an enjoyable day, none of us stopped thinking about Karen's mom, Katy. (Below this posting there is a whole update dedicated to Katy...)

The food looked delicious! I'm starved looking at it. It snowed last night in Quincy.....11-14 inches. It is so beautiful. Hug yourself for me!
