Finally--A Complete Family! :-)
We left Fayetteville Thursday night, long past midnight. We were going to pick up our babies in Quincy, Illinois, at last! Both Rob and I tried to leave earlier, but since that day we had to move all of our belongings from the old and crappy hotel on base, to the new one--Fairfield Inn Marriott, it took some time and efforts before we were done. And it was already pretty late. But the new hotel is MUCH nicer and more comfortable, so we were very satisfied.
We took my SUV since we will have to transport two cats and two dogs, and all what comes with them. Rob took the first part of driving, but after few hours the stress and tiredness of the previous day caught up, and we decided to get some descent sleep at a motel. At 5.00 am we got a room and hit the bed. We slept longer that it was planned. Oh, well... As soon as we were awake, (at 9.30 am) we took off. The ride was nice and it was also very interesting for me since I've never seen these parts of the US before. We left North Carolina, then drove through Virginia, and once we got to West Virginia, we had an amazing breakfast where they served (surprisingly) good and strong coffee. In Kentucky I was driving and Rob took a nap. It was fun. But unfortunately for me the weather became really bad: a lot of heavy rain, wind, and all what follows with that on the road. Plus, there was a lot of road work and most of the lanes were closed, so we drove on one-lane high way. Boooring... But after few hours we switched and it was my time to take a nap. Then we drove through Indiana, and late, late, at last, we were in Illinois. Even though this was a definitely a long trip, it was exciting because we were about to see our babies! Yes! :-)
We arrived in Quincy about 1.00 am. Krissy was up, waiting for us, so were the dogs. I swear they knew we were coming... ;-) There was a lot of whining and jumping and happy moments. Somehow I think we were more excited about meeting our puppies, than they were. But after being spoiled by the whole family for a month, who can blame them???
We went to bed shortly after we arrived, with our dogs by our sides. It felt good, but we still had our kitties to see.
The next day, we got a wonderful morning surprise. Both Aunt Janet and Aunt Jane came by, and after having breakfast, together with Krissy we all went for a walk with the doggies. It was so cute to watch them walking side by side with Max, and knowing the directions. Rob had the privilege to pick Bobby's poop. Yes, Aunt Jane made sure that we knew what they had to go through for that month. Thankfully Bella didn't poop that morning... my girl! :-) I was amazed how beautiful Quincy is. It definitely looked differently from what I saw one month ago. I fell in love with the beautiful dogwood trees, so colorful and in full bloom! Aunt Jane told me the legend attached to those threes, and it made them even more special to me.
We went back to Krissy's, left the dogs there, called the rest of the family about an early dinner together, and then went shopping. Well, Krissy went shopping... We forced her to let us replace all the pillows and a rug that one of the trouble makers (or all of them), destroyed. It was fun at the store, maybe because we were able to spend time together with the family, which is always good.
But before the shopping trip, I must to mention that, Aunt Jane took me to her work, a clinic where she works, and gave me a shot for my allergies. When earlier we walked the dogs, I got hay fever, a bad one, and even though I am on medication for that, it didn't work that day. So Aunt Jane, my life saver (ok, let me be dramatic here!), gave me a shot in my butt cheek, equipped me with inhalator and other cool stuff. Aunt Jane rocks! :-)
In the afternoon Sarah arrived with our kitties! Ah, I was sooo happy. But I think that doggies were more excited to see their cats than anybody else. Finally, we were all reunited. Shortly after the rest of the family started showing up, and we all gathered in Krissy's backyard. It was such a gorgeous and sunny day. Perfect for a family dinner outside. Pizza arrived after about an hour, and we all jumped on it. I think all of it was gone in seconds, but we still had desserts! Aunt Cindy made this awesome, what I call: "a sneaker like", pudding-something-dessert, and a fruit blend of some sort that tasted heavenly. We've had a lot of food, and I am not sure who made what, so please forgive me for not mentioning your name, ok? It was all delicious. My belly definitely grew during that short stay in Quincy. And I got to meet Cody, Cindy's and Joe's son. He is so funny. And what a cutie! (I would say hottie, but since he is my younger cousin, I can't say that... or can I?????)
We began packing about 6.00 pm. And half an hour later we were ready to go. It was hard saying good-byes to everybody, since now we have no idea when we will see each other. But we are hoping that now, since we have our OWN house and live in the US, people will come and visit us. We were glad that we left so early because we made one-third of the trip in no time. I was driving during the night, while Rob was trying to get a nap. Well, it wasn't easy for him. No space, since the passenger seat was pushed all the way to the front so we could fit dogs crates, cat IN crates, and our bags (that somehow grew suspiciously--but I blame it all on Aunt Jane!); Billie just wouldn't shut up, kept crying, miaowing as loud as it was possible, and just being a pain in the butt. Rob decided to throw the cat out of the window but I explained to him that she is ONLY a cat, and has no idea what's going on. Probably she is just scared. I am not sure is he bought it or not, but the cat stayed. We stopped many times on the way, letting the dogs out and making sure that the cats stretched their legs in the back of the car, where they also had (temporarily) an accessible cat litter. It was way past midnight and Billie just wouldn't stop making weird (annoying) sounds. It was getting very frustrating. We tried nicely (me), and not so nicely (Rob), but nothing worked... By the time it was my time to take a nap, I wanted to kill the cat. I swear.
About 4.30 am we stopped at a resting area and both took a nap. At that point we were so tired, that with the help of ear-plugs even annoying Billie couldn't stop us from falling asleep. I had no idea that I can sleep in positions like that. Wow--I am good. I don't even mind all of the bruises on my legs, butt, and hips.
I woke up at 7.30 am by ALL of the animals. They were ready to poop/pee/walk. I got up, took the dogs for a walk, and when Rob woke up and came to take over, I went to take care of the cats. Everything was fine, Billie was back at her annoying, and we took off. The ride was nice and I actually enjoyed it. It was sunny and the roads were empty. Rob was napping and Billie lost her voice... suddenly it became almost peaceful. I only wished I had Starbucks cup, full of my favorite cafe latte, hot, right beside me. THAT would make it perfect! :-)))))
We arrived in North Carolina, tired like hell, about 6.00 pm. It was good to be "home". We arranged that small hotel room pretty fast, that so everything, including the crates, fit in, and after petting our babies for a while, we all went to bed. We all were just super exhausted.
Thank you, our wonderful family, for taking care of our dogs and cats. You've made it all workable for us. We will never be able to repay you...
The animals are missing you, it's obvious. They are not as happy (yet) as they usually are. Except Adi--who is just full of enegry and exploring the whole room, bathroom, boxes, windows, and bags, jumping from one to another and asking for love--the other three are quiet and mellow. Maybe it is because they are tired after the trip, but I think they miss you guys...

Hi. I'm so happy to hear you got back okay. And when you said Fairfield Inn by Marriott, then something else you told me made sense. The reason it's not as fancy as a regular Marriott is that Fairfield Inn is a chain of hotels that Marriott owns that is a little more downscaled. They are great though because they are clean and usually have free high-speed internet access.
Anyway, I'm glad everything went well. Talk soon. Love Mom
Glad the marathon drive is over for you and now you have your family all together.
Sounds like quite an eventful couple of days you guys had! I know you are all so happy to have the family back together. I wish we could have been in Quincy while you were there. We miss you guys so much. I will give you a call later in the week.
Love, Aunt Karen
I hope you are feeling yourself again, and the migraine is gone now for good. You have had far too much stress in the last few months. I pray you get into your home soon, so you can really settle into your new life. Uncle Joe will get your camera mailed as soon as you have an address (and after I delete all pictures with me) Love you all. Keep posting
Hello Mom, Jill, and Aunt Karen! The hotel is really nice and we are right on the bottom floor, which is nice because of the dogs.
The trip was hard on us, and we still feel tired... kind of having a jet-lag! ;-)
Aunt Karen, I can't wait to talk to you! Kiss Katie from us! And say hello to the guys!
Aunt Cindy! Don't you dare deleting ANY pictures! You look great and you better get used to me telling you that, ok? :-)
We should move into the house on Saturday, but before then I will give you our address. I just can't believe that we forgot our camera!
My migraines are better. It's just been so busy for the past month and a half, a lot of travelling... Love you!
I can't believe that you move in on Saturday already! WOW. So much has happened in the last 4-5 weeks. I can't believe it. We can't wait to come visit!
Katy is doing much better and both she and Frank send their love. Mom ordered a housewarming present for you and Rob out of a catalog the other day. She is so excited to get it!
My sweet Aunt Karen! We are ready to move in, and start a normal life! Those 4-5 weeks have been really crazy! We REALLY can't wait for you guys to come over for visit! It will be so much fun! :-)
I can't believe that katy is thinking about our housewarming present! They really don't have to get us anything! We wish they were able to come and visit us too!
