Rainy, cold, pets, Mom

Rob calls me a weather lady. I always make sure to inform him what the temperature is when I let the dogs out. I have my little thermometer outside, and without it it would be as weird as without a cell phone.

After many days of sunshine and wonderful warm air, in the high 80's, it got really cool. Today it's been raining and I guess it's time to wear a jacket, or something. No sandals either.

Rob is getting better with his cold, and I am hoping that my coughing will end soon as well. After all, I did get a little bit sick. I took every one's advice and enjoyed my days off. Today I am going back to work!!! Yeaaahhhhh! :-)))))

Next weekend Mom will come and visit us. Not exactly us, even if she says she is coming to see us. We all know that the reason Mom is coming all that long way, is to pick up her new cute puppy, Quincy. :-) Unfortunately, Mom will stay only one night, and take off the next morning, very early. But this time she will not be driving alone. Quincy will keep her company, whining, crying, wanting to pee or poop, or eat, or to be hold... Yep--that's going to be a looooong way back home. ;-)

Ok, just teasing... I am just remembering our own drive from Quincy, Illinois, to Fayetteville, NC, with all of our furry children. What a pain that was! I still don't get how Billie the Cat managed to cry the whole 18 hours, non-stop.

That's why we don't bathe our pets... ha!ha!ha! (just kidding... we do, really....)

A couple mile trip to the vet or groomer has me nuts with Maggie trying to get in my lap-climb into the front seat-whining-scratching at the windows....I can not even imagine a long drive with any dog! especially a puppy that pees and poops and eats constantly. So the best of luck Jer-your trip may seem 1 week long.Beata-hope you and Rob are in tip-top shape really soon

Beata--I take my cat back & forth to my boyfriend's house in Kansas City every week. You would never believe it, but I put Jimi in his cat carrier & he doesn't make a peep the whole time! He rides just fine! Definitely makes things a lot easier for me, let me tell you. Glad to hear you're feeling better!

B, glad you posted a new one. Love to read what you're up to. Hope you both are feeling better very soon. Can't wait to see you as I pop in and out of NC.

Jessi, that's sweet that you take your cat with you. Can't wait to meet your bf.

Thanks, Paulette. I know the 12 hour drive will seem to take forever, but I'll be so happy to have Quincy with me. It gets a bit lonely in Mississippi at night. Sigh.

Hello girls! I am really hoping that we never have to drive that far with our zoo again. Although Adi was the best of all, no sound at all, as usual (btw, I miss her still, so much...) It would be great to the all of the pets to the groomer, but with four of them, it would be too expensive.

When Cody picked Kirby out on the internet and we had to pick him up in Carthage at the shelter, He got in the van and sat, like a person, on the back seat and never moved, except to finally lay down a sleep a bit. I THOUGHT we got a real winner...and we(me and Cody do anyway) DO LOVE him to pieces..but he seems to be a biter, though we dont' give him the chance if we can help it. But there is NOTHING like having a sweet puppy to greet you at the door after work..all excited to see you and get his walk, or to have him to talk to as you fall asleep b/c your mean old husband works all the time and leaves you all alone with only the pets to keep you company...do I sound bitter??? Nay...Kirby is a great pet and I wish Jer luck with her puppy. I dont' think after getting a housebroken dog, I'd ever do a puppy again, but I wish you luck with yours. She will be great Company for you.

Cindy, have you ever watched the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic channel? You can stop Kirby from biting.

I buy new cars, I buy new puppies. No lemons. (Just kidding. Sunday was from the animal shelter and she was more than a year old when we got her.)

Kirby has never ACTUALLY bit anyone yet, but he has 'snapped' at one of Kelly's boys when we first got him. I am not willing to take the chance with those sweet boys faces, and the fact that if he did bite, I'd have to put him down. My dad always said if a dog got a taste of blood he WOULD bite again. Janet is SOLD on that Pet Whisperer though...and she is already being picked on for it...tsht..tsht...seems to be the new catch phrase aimed at all the family pets lately. Doesnt' seem to be working on Alfie though, who still wets on your feet as a greeting!

Yeah, Alfie's wetting may not be a behavioral issue that can be dealt with. :) You'll hear me going going tch, tch too. Worked on Rob and Beata's barkers.

And I don't blame you about putting Kirby at the kennel when you have a houseful of people. Better than the other possibilities.
