July

Since I don't write so often anymore, I should probably start putting months as titles of my postings. I am trying to find time to update my blog and also answer emails, but it's not going really well. Sorry! :-)

Last weekend, our friend from Okinawa, Alex, came to visit us. He is in the US right now and drove many hours to come over for the long weekend. Unfortunately he had to go back already Sunday evening. But we were really happy to see him and super excited about spending some time together again. Saturday, Rob cooked for the three of us, an amazing dinner full of tasty goodies from the grill that we got to enjoyed outside, on our back porch. I can't remember how long we all stayed there, but it got pretty dark and late by the time we came back in. There was just so many things we had to had to catch up. On Sunday, we were all invited to Linda's for (huge!) lunch, which was awesome and especially prepared in 4th of July spirit. We all had wonderful time, introduced Alex to our new family, and got to meet for the first time Judy's daughter, Robin. I just love those Sunday's together! :-) I am always so happy when we get a chance to be with Kathryn and Tom. Now I can't even imagine to live without them...

Monday I had to go to work, but Rob was still off, enjoying his long weekend. He really needed it. Those early hours are just plain scary. I have no idea how he can get up every morning at 4.00 am...

Our 4th of July was nice and quiet. In the morning Rob made breakfast, and then we went to the pool, right by our house. It was so much fun! In the afternoon Rob invited his friend Steve, who also recently arrived from Okinawa, and is now working the same place as Rob. Steve brought his friend Christie, very funny and sweet girl. We all sat outside, enjoying Rob's famous sheesh-kebabs. They were awesome!!!

Here are some pictures from the past few days. Love you! :-)

Ok, I am having problems with uploading pictures (again!), so I will have to try again tomorrow.

Hello Mom, yes--we are alive! :-) Sorry for the long term silence. We hope to be better soon. We are getting used to the weird schedule but I guess it's going slower than we expected. Love you!
Hello Kelly! :-) All those early hours are just unreal. This is just pure abuse!!! ;-) But as long as I go to bed around 10.00 pm, I can get up at 6.00 am...
Hugs and kisses to you, Todd and the kids.
Dear Aunt Paulette, thank you for visiting my blog! :-) I am trying to leave to enjoyment when I have days off, but then when am I going to take care of all the other stuff???
Love you!

I guess you are finding out how hard it is to balance a full time job at home and one outside the home too. I am so glad I was able to be home when the kids were little, but now I dont' think I could live with myself if I didn't work to help them get started in life. But BOY do I wish I had someone to do about 20 loads of laundry a week for me!!! I could make them do their own, but then they would look like bigger slobs than they already strive to. Sounds like you have some help with the cooking though...Good for Rob, and I would love to have some of his shish-ka-bobs sometime. Enjoy your Sunday...our last day of vacation here...sniff.

Hello Aunt Cindy!
I can only imagine how much laundry you need to take care of! Wow, I don't envy you... ;-)
I think with two dogs, two cats, and Rob, I really don't need extra kids. Instead of 24 hour day, I would need at least 38. I guess the long drive to work and back takes some of the precious time as well. Love you!
