Dzien Babci - Grandma's Day
Today I wanted to dedicate special and beautiful posting to my Grandma (Babcia), Klara Podgajska, but....

I wrote and rewrote my posting about four times, correcting it, deleting it, adding stuff, and after two hours I just canceled it all. Nothing that I wrote was good enough to honor my beloved Grandma. She is not dead, no, no! My Grandma is almost 89 years old and sometimes I think she has more energy than Rob and I together. Today is Grandma's Day in Poland, and I called as soon as she woke up. It made her day even more special. What she doesn't know is, that I've ordered on the internet a cute bouquet of flowers with a box of chocolates which are supposed to be delivered around noon. I've never done it before, so she will be surprised. :-) And any time I can make Grandma pleasantly surprised, my heart just mealts!
My Grandma means a world to me and I love her like crazy! I owe her my life; after all--she raised me. This is a woman who, from her early years, was severely beaten, constantly yelled at, and never experienced either affection or a good word. Yet, she gave me all the love that my mother couldn't.
Grandma, I know you are never going to read this, but I just wanted to celebrate this day with you on my mind and in my heart, and share it with my close ones. Babcia, I love you more than you can even imagine!!! Because of you, I am the person all of my family and friends know today--Thank you!

Honey, that is just beautiful. Grandma is so proud of you, and you know it. You're both lucky to have had each other.

Beata...You made me cry..I know just how you feel, as I love my Grandma Mary that same way [though could have never expressed it so well]I sure miss her in my life. I was sorry to hear that your Grandma had a hard life, but what an amazing woman she must surely be to have swelled your heart so of love just for her. May God always bless you with that kind of love.

My Grandma is a very strong but good hearted woman, and I hope that at least I can make the last days/years of her life happier than she ever experienced.

Dave, thank you so much. I got a tear in my eye when I read your comment. I wish we could all go to Krakow and have pizza with Grandma! :-) She is always so exctied to meet new people. And you would love the city!

What a beautiful story about your Grandma. I was charmed as usual. You words about her upbringing and strength were so moving. She is lucky to have you. No, actually, as Rob said you are lucky to have each other!
