Back to painting

Yesterday was my name-day, which, in Poland, is almost as important as birthday. It's a tradition that is kept mostly in Slavic countries. Well, I got the most beautiful present ever!!! No, no--not another puppy! ;-) Rob bought me huge wooden easel, two sets of paints, brushes, and canvases. I am in heaven! I already started painting and nothing can stop me now. The easel fits perfectly in our library, and maybe it now seems more crowded but it matches the furniture all around our house. I just love it! And what a great quality! I just couldn't ask for a better present. Now I just have the find the rest of my brushes and paints that (hopefully) arrived in one of the many boxes from Okinawa.

My work is going great. I just love everybody at the spa and enjoy coming to work. I was able to drop my Fridays (at the other location), so now I will have a little bit more time for everything else! I am soooo happy about it! For the past months it just didn't seem as I had enough time to even clean the house, or meet any of my friends from work. Now I will spend more time painting, socializing, taking care of the house and my zoo (Rob included in the "zoo" part). I am still going to work this Friday, but that will be my last one.

I can't believe it's already September... wow. Time goes so fast.

Happy Name Day to you..though I really don't know what that means except it seems to be a day you get gifts. SO...I think we should have that here in the USA too. Any day I get presents is a good day for me!!! My luck though is my name day would fall right on my birthday, so I wouldn't get 2 gifts! Tell Rob he did a good job. I can tell how excited you are about the gift he chose. See you soon!!!

Cin, name day is what we would call Saint's Day here. I remember that in grade school (much before your time), but we'd talk about that. Like my saint's name is Clare (for my middle name), and I think her feast day is August 12. So I would get to celebrate then too.

Beatka, love the easel. What a wonderful gift.

And your hair is straight again! :) You're always beautiful, but I thought the natural curl was fun.

Can't wait to share a room with you in Ohio. Rob can sleep or just be quiet and let us chatter away.

MY name day is Dec 9th(see below)...so I was right..pretty darn close to my birthday.
*********************************
Anna is one of the most common names in Christian culture because of St. Anna, mother of Virgin Mary. It is the Greek form of Hebrew word "hannah" which means mercy. Anna has been used in Finland at least since the 1400's. Its nameday is December 9th. Other names with same origin are for example Anne, Anni, Anneli, Annika and Hanna.

MY favorite though has always been St.Lucy, who is the patron saint of eye patients, and her feast day is on my birthday.

We had nearly everyone at Matt and Beth's wedding. I know my kids made it, but todd didn't and neither did Hunter. Of course Hunter wasn't born yet, so that's an excused absence. :)

Beata and Rob, you really need to check out Uncle Joe's blog, it's become a family bulletin board. Mom

Hello my girls! I am sorry for not responding to your comments right away, but first today, Saturday, I found some time to do it.
I just simply love the easle and can't wait to get everything done around the house and start painting. And yes, Chilli is as adorable as he was the day I saw him first! :-) He is our little baby...
I am soooo excited about my Fridays. It will really make a big difference in our lives. I am already thinking about how much I can paint and write those days.
Thank you for singing to me, Aunt Karen! I really enjoyed my day. Name Day used to be the same week as my birthday, and that's why I moved it to September. Luckily, Beata comes twice a year! :-) And yes, you can do it... ha!ha!ha! Mom, my grandma's Name Day is on the 12th of August!!!!!!!!!!! You know that her name is Klara, so we always celebrate it that day. Rob's Name Day is on the 17th of April and grandma always sends him cards!
I can't wait either to see everyone at the wedding, plus I am excited to see my first American wedding! :-)
