My Actual Birthday - March 1

We have been so busy that I wasn't able to find to post about my birthday, which was few days ago already. Since we got the orders, yes--we finally did, both Rob and I have been hardly ever home. And we know it's only going to get worse. But let's leave that for another posting and go back to my birthday, which turned to be such a wonderful day for me!
it started with beautiful presents and cards from Rob and the zoo. Yes, they all wrote separate cards. Isn't that cute???? Awww.....Then we had breakfast, and not much later I had a lunch appointment with my Korean girlfriends. When I arrived at the store on base, where they all work, I was overwhelmed how many of my friends showed up. Not only my closest Korean friends, Insuk, Choy, and Mi Kyong, came, but also Yuko, who is Japanese, Yolly and Qualy--both from Philippines. We took two cars and went for lunch at a Korean restaurant, where more of girls joined us. I had a blast! They gave me beautiful birthday card, singed by all of them, and gorgeous bouquet of flowers. I think we stayed there for about two hours, even though all of the girls were supposed be back at work long before we got to our second dish. It was so much fun! We joked, laughed, teased each other, and of course--took pictures. Oh, I am going to miss them sooooo much!
Later that day, in the evening, Rob and I were meeting our good friend Jim, who is a Philosophy professor for the Maryland University here on Okinawa, where we both went. We love Jim so much, and we've became very good and close friends with him, so he will be missed more than he can even imagine! I was extremely happy that we found time to join us for dinner on my birthday. We all decided to go to the best sushi restaurant in whole Asia, to the famous Yoshi Hachi. The man is a master! His food is like art. We made sure to order all of our favorites. Both Jim and I had hot sake, which only enhanced the taste of this amazing food. It was a wonderful evening, and I am happy that my day ended with delicious dinner with Jim.

Here I am with Insuk and Yolly. Insuk is the one sitting close to me, wearing white and black sweater. She had been my best friend on Okinawa since the day we've met. Insuk is beautiful inside and outside, with the biggest heart in the right place. I am so lucky to have her in my life! She kind of "adopted" me, treating me like a daughter, and after a while I even started calling her "mommy". Some people, even the Koreans, really think that I am half Korean and Insuk is my mom! Funny, hm? :-) I will miss her like crazy, but the good thing is that Insuk and her husband are moving to the US in July. Yeaaahhh!

This was the best cake we ever had on Okinawa!!! My sweet friend, Yuko, bought it especially for my birthday and told me to eat it only with my husband. So I did. Both Rob and I loved it!!! Yuuummmm....

Here we are with Jim, at the sushi restaurant.

We love you, Jim!!!

It was a great birthweek, honey. Now get packing...

Yep, we've got a lot of really wonderful friends here. And Beata had every single one of them scouring Okinawa for me yesterday since she couldn't reach me on my cellphone (I lost it) to tell me I had to sign paperwork for her car to be delivered "or else." Everyone I ran into said, "Call your wife! It's important!" Scary.

Yeah... that was funny Rob... But even in the midst of Beata's rampant telephone spree you could tell that she was only trying to help out.(yeah... it was disgustingly cute)

I know you love Korean food, Dave. Maybe we can hit the vegetarian Korean joint in NYC.
